Investigate the World
Ancient Civilization MagazineIn this project, a group made up of myself and four of my peers were responsible for creating a magazine about the ancient civilization of classical India that would be presented to students in the 6th grade. We were able to investigate our world through the research that we conducted in order to create articles and flair pieces (such as quizzes and advertisements) about a variety of aspects of classical India such as religion, culture, and politics. This project also gave us a valuable opportunity to work as a group to create a cohesive product that showed both creativity and knowledge of our ancient civilization.
The document below is my article that was "published" in our magazine India Today.

Reading of A Thousand Splendid SunsDuring our modern war unit in English, we had the opportunity to read A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. Rather than investigating the world through a non-fiction piece or article, A Thousand Splendid Suns is a historical fiction piece based on two Afghani women whose lives intertwine. Throughout the book, Hosseini effectively portrays the turmoil that faces Afghanistan as it affects the lives of the main characters. In reading this book, I was able to investigate the world by learning a little bit about the history, culture, and identity of Afghanistan, as well as the effects of the conflicts on the lives of the people.
